Visual Artists Wanted - Refugee Week Open Exhibition

Date: 21st 24th June 2018

Private View: 21st June, 6-9pm

Location: The Whitworth, Oxford Road, Manchester, M15 6ER

Journeys 2018 and the Whitworth have developed this unique opportunity for artists who are seeking asylum in the UK or who have a refugee background to take part in a pop-up exhibition as part of Refugee Week. We are interested in hearing from artists both amateur and professional working in any 2D medium, digital video and moving image who would like to display their work in one of Manchesters most loved cultural institutions.

To secure your space in the exhibition send your name and images of the work you would like to show to dan@artreach.biz. Please ensure you include the following information about the work:

  • Artists Name
  • Title of the work
  • Date of production
  • Materials used

Artists will then be contacted to confirm they will be taking part. Work will need to be delivered by the artist to the Whitworth on Thursday 21st June at 10am. Our curation team will then assist with the hanging of the work. We will also print labels with artists name, title of the work etc to be displayed alongside.

Artworks will be hung from metal fencing panels in the Whitworth Hall, therefore it is important we have as much information about the work in advance to plan for hanging it. The deadline for sending this information is Monday 4th June.

Work must be collected from The Whitworth on Monday 25th June.

Artists travel expenses can be covered for delivery and collection of the work.

Please share this call out with anyone you think would be interested and please invite your friends and family along to the opening.

If you require further information, have any questions or would like help with your application, please dont hesitate to contact Dan Williamson dan@artreach.biz or 0161 2734090
